Captain Britain

I picked these up in Leeds’ Merion Centre (the horrible little market part that smellt of meat) durring my student days. Fear not, your eyes are not deceiving you – that is issues 1 to 5 of Marvel’s Captain Britain, from 1976. They’re worth somewhere in the region of £4. Basically they’re a stereotype of a comic book hero (mild mannered, genius etc) but they make him smoke a pipe and say “All right Gentlemen…” and magically he’s so British it’s amazing. I’ve never been a fan of Marvel but I suspect this isn’t them at their best.

Put it this way, I’ll be amazed if he’s the next Marvel character to make it to the big screen.
